How to choose a padel racket as a beginner?Updated 21 days ago
As a beginner, choose a racket that is comfortable, easy to maneuver, and forgiving on off-center hits. Control and confidence matter more than maximum power at this stage.
Look for:
- Round or forgiving teardrop shape
- Soft or medium foam
- Medium-low balance
- Comfortable weight, often around the lighter or standard range
- A large sweet spot
Try to avoid rackets that are very stiff, very head-heavy, or built mainly for advanced attacking play. Those models can feel powerful, but they often make timing, control, and arm comfort harder while you are learning.
If you already have a strong tennis, squash, or other racket-sport background, you may be comfortable moving into an intermediate racket sooner. If padel is your first racket sport, start forgiving and upgrade later as your technique becomes more consistent.
